This past weekend, a group of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca staff came together to make a positive impact by participating in a Monthly Beach Cleanup organized by the Monterey Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. With a strong turnout from the community, the event was a busy and productive day dedicated to keeping the coastline clean and protecting the local environment.
The morning started with an optional 9 a.m. yoga session, where some raceway staff took the opportunity to stretch and energize before diving into the cleanup efforts. Altogether, ten members of the WeatherTech Raceway team joined forces with other volunteers to collect waste along Del Monte Beach, as well as in the surrounding neighborhood and dunes.
The idea to participate in the cleanup was brought forward by Event Operations Manager Hayle Leontieff, a dedicated member of the raceway’s newly formed Sustainability Committee. Under the guidance of CEO Lauri Eberhart, the committee was recently established to explore and implement sustainability initiatives throughout the track. Still in its early stages, the committee’s first priority has been assessing existing practices before developing future strategies to enhance the raceway’s environmental efforts.
Participating in the Monterey Beach Cleanup was a meaningful way for staff to engage with the local community while reinforcing WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca’s commitment to sustainability. As the Sustainability Committee continues its work, this event marks just the beginning of efforts to promote environmental responsibility both on and off the track.
