Formula 1 champion to be honored during WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca’s prestigious motorsports gathering

MONTEREY, Calif. (July 30, 2025) — WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca today announced that it will honor Formula 1 champion and British racing driver Jenson Button as the Grand Marshal of the 51st Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion on Aug. 13-16.

Button, a longtime Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion participant, will take part in a variety of Grand Marshal duties, including serving as a guest commentator during the Mario Andretti Trophy race, participating in opening ceremonies and meeting fans during a special autograph session. Button will also compete in multiple groups during the event, racing his 1967 Alfa Romeo GT Jr., 2011 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup and a 1996 IROC Pontiac Firebird in the Unser Family Cup IROC group.

“I am incredibly honored to be named Grand Marshal of this legendary event,” said Button. “This is the ultimate gathering of motorsports history and icons from the racing world, and I couldn’t be prouder to play a part.”

Button, who currently competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA and recently posted a podium finish at Interlagos in Brazil, is best known for his 17 seasons of Formula One competition. He earned the 2009 Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship with Brawn GP and won 15 races during his F1 career. Button’s racing resume is incredibly diverse, as he’s competed in the NASCAR Cup Series, Race of Champions and a variety of endurance events, including the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

An official celebration of the 75th anniversary of Formula 1, including 25 storied F1 cars from the 1966-1985 non-turbo era racing daily in the Mario Andretti Trophy race, will highlight this year’s Rolex Reunion. The paddock will also feature an exhibition of more than 30 rarely seen historic Formula 1 cars, ranging from the 1956 Maserati 250F, 1966 Eagle Mk1 and 1986 Benetton B186-05 to more modern machinery like the 2024 Formula 1 World Constructors’ Championship-winning McLaren MCL38, driven by Lando Norris.

More than 400 period-correct cars will compete throughout the event in 14 race groups, including a first-ever IROC race group featuring NASCAR legends. For more information or to purchase tickets for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, visit WeatherTechRaceway.com.
