The year may be winding down, but WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is keeping the community spirit alive with three exciting events to round out the season. Mark your calendars for these gatherings that celebrate the thriving Monterey community, support local causes, and bring people together.

November 23: Race to Space

Join the Monterey Institute for Research in Astronomy (MIRA) and their amateur stargazing club for the final Race to Space in 2024 under the crisp, clear November sky. With the time change the event is set to run from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. with hopes kids and families will attend before bedtime. Venus will be visible just after sunset to the West, Saturn (and its beautiful rings!) will be up throughout the evening, and Jupiter will be rising as the night starts. The winter sky has many gems to explore including the Pleiades star cluster, the Orion Nebula, and our nearest galaxy Andromeda. Learn about and view these phenomena from various telescopes in the lakebed island. Whether you’re a seasoned stargazer or just looking to catch your first glimpse of a distant planet, this event offers a unique chance to connect with the universe and the Monterey community.

November 28: Thanksgiving Turkey Trot

Bring your family, friends, and a healthy dose of gratitude to the annual Turkey Trot, sponsored by Montage Health. Participants can run, jog, or stroll along the iconic track as much as they want from 7 – 11 a.m. in this annual tradition. Participants are asked to bring a $10 donation or non-perishable food items for The Food Bank for Monterey County, with barrels for pantry donations already placed around the venue. Kick off Thanksgiving morning by giving back and enjoying a refreshing trot through one of Monterey County’s most scenic landmarks.

December 7: Holiday Cars & Coffee Meetup

Finish off the year with the Holiday edition of Monterey Cars & Coffee, supporting the Seneca Family of Agencies through a toy drive or a $5 donation. Seneca Central Coast, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides critical support to children and families in the foster care system, offering mental health and educational programs to ensure their well-being. Last year, the community’s generosity led to three vehicles filled with toys for local children, and the goal this year is to make an even greater impact. Cars & Coffee is proudly presented by Coastal Roots Hospitality, Captain + Stoker Coffee, Tanimura & Antle—who will also offer fresh produce for additional donations—MYChevy, and Montage Health. The event would not be possible without the help of Monterey Cars & Coffee organizers.  Bring your classic or favorite car, and a giving spirit to close out 2024 on a high note.

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and Friends of Laguna Seca invite you to participate, give back, and make memories at these fantastic community events. With family-friendly activities and opportunities to support vital causes, there's never been a better time to experience the magic of Laguna Seca.
