Monterey’s historic motorsport gathering was honored at the prestigious awards ceremony in London

MONTEREY, Calif. (Nov. 17, 2025) – The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion received the Motorsport Event of the Year Award at the International Historic Motoring Awards (IHMA) ceremony at the Peninsula London hotel on Friday, Nov. 14. WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca’s venerated motorsports event, which hosted its 51st running in August, was recognized as the pinnacle of collector car competitive motorsport events.

The 2025 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion featured a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of Formula 1’s 75th anniversary, including more than 50 rarely seen historic and modern Formula 1 machines. Also included was an unprecedented gathering of 24 original International Race of Champions (IROC) cars, spanning all seven generations and piloted by legendary NASCAR, Formula 1, INDYCAR and sports car racing drivers. With 14 race groups featuring more than 400 historic racing machines prepared to period-correct racing spec, this year’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion brought to life an interactive racing museum that educates, entertains and inspires.

Monterey’s signature historic motorsports event was shortlisted for the award alongside the Silverstone Festival, Le Mans Classic and the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. April Henderson, director of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, was on hand to receive the award. This marks the second time the event has been named Motorsport Event of the Year, having previously taken home the award in 2022.

In its 15
th year, the International Historic Motoring Awards is the most prestigious global awards night in the collector car world, celebrating the achievements of people and organizations worldwide. The car community nominates contenders in 15 categories, which are voted on by a panel of distinguished judges, including Jay Leno, Rob Kauffman, Donald Osborne and Sandra Button.
