For the second quarter at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, two outstanding associates have been awarded Employee of the Quarter for their exceptional dedication, hard work, and impact on the team. This quarter, Franco Contreras and Eduardo Vasquez share the spotlight for their valuable contributions to the track's success and sense of community.
Franco joined the Laguna Seca team in June 2023, fueled by a passion for motorsports and an eagerness to make an impact in the racing community. A 2022 graduate of California State University, Monterey Bay, with a degree in Business Administration and a focus in Marketing, Franco has a deep appreciation for car culture and has hit the ground running with his work at the Raceway.
“What I enjoy about working at the track is engaging with the community during our Street Parties," Franco shares. "It’s exciting to meet the locals who are passionate about the races at Laguna Seca.”
Franco’s hard work did not go unnoticed during the kickoff to the season. His peers highlighted his contribution, saying, “Franco did a tremendous job with organizing our street events, setting the tone for a very successful Q2. He took ownership of the event and executed it flawlessly, showcasing his skills and helping Laguna Seca shine.” Franco’s drive and community-minded focus have made a lasting impression, setting the stage for a strong season ahead.
Eduardo or “Eddie” as the team knows him, started in September 2023 and quickly became an invaluable part of the facilities team. Originally from Los Angeles, Eddie moved to Alabama at age seven, returning to California three years ago to join family in the area. While working as a package delivery driver, Eddie passed by the track frequently and became intrigued and pursued an opportunity to join the team even before ever attending a race.
Eddie has excelled in one of the most challenging roles at the Raceway, maintaining and restoring the campground restroom facilities to an exceptional standard and creating a positive guest experience in the process. His colleagues praise his contributions: “Eddie has done an extraordinary job taking on one of our most difficult jobs at any workplace. His attention to detail, ownership of his work, and helpful attitude make him a great ambassador for Laguna Seca.”
Eddie’s passion for racing has only grown since joining the team. “I fell in love with the racing. I get more into it the more I’m around it,” he shared, adding that his favorite event so far has been the IndyCar races. “The sheer speed and style of open-wheel racing is something to behold.”
Currently, Eddie is preparing to transition into a role focused on track maintenance, where he’ll be contributing to curbing, sweeping, and overall track upkeep. His dedication has helped elevate the facility’s standards, ensuring that every guest enjoys a seamless experience.
Congratulations to Franco and Eddie! Their commitment and enthusiasm bring energy to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, creating a strong foundation for the team’s continued success.
