Official WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca Production Car Track Record Holder

Since its founding in 2019, Czinger Vehicles has repeatedly redefined what is possible for a production car at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The Los Angeles-based manufacturer has established itself as one of the most innovative names in high-performance automotive engineering, breaking the Raceway's official production car track record four times.

Czinger first captured the production car record in 2021, when the revolutionary 21C lapped WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in 1:25.44, eclipsing the previous record by more than two seconds.

Following a brief exchange of records with Koenigsegg in 2024, Czinger reclaimed the title just eight days later with a 1:24.75 lap.

In July 2025, the company raised the bar again as part of its California Gold Rush initiative, where the road-legal 21C High Downforce (HDF) completed more than 1,000 miles of public-road driving while visiting five California race circuits in five days—setting a production car lap record at every track it contested. During the Laguna Seca stop, the 21C HDF established a new benchmark with a 1:24.39 lap.

After Koenigsegg briefly reclaimed the record later that year, Czinger returned once again. In December 2025, the 21C HDF delivered an extraordinary 1:22.30 lap—more than two seconds faster than the previous record—to become the current Official WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca Production Car Track Record holder.

Every attempt is conducted under Raceway oversight and verified through approved timing and data validation, ensuring each achievement meets the highest professional standards.

Where Records Are Made

Record attempts may only be conducted during Raceway-approved private test or closed-course sessions. Every attempt must be scheduled through Raceway management and comply with established safety, operational, and timing requirements.

Laps from public track days, open lapping events, races, promotional runs, or other non-approved sessions are not eligible under this program.

How Official Track Records Are Recognized

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca recognizes only verified performances completed under documented conditions.

To be considered for official recognition, a record attempt must:

Vehicles derived from series-production road cars offered for public sale, retaining core manufacturer-defined chassis and body structures.

Modified Production Vehicles Production-based vehicles with performance modifications

Production-based vehicles that incorporate performance modifications beyond standard production specifications, including but not limited to engine tuning, aerodynamic enhancements, suspension changes, or weight reduction. Vehicles must retain recognizable production origins.

Race Cars Vehicles constructed or prepared primarily for competition

Vehicles constructed or prepared primarily for competition use, including homologated race cars, one-make series vehicles, and non-homologated competition builds that do not qualify as production-based under this program. This classification may include vehicles that are not road legal but are FIA-approved.

Prototypes and Special Vehicles Purpose-built experimental, concept, or prototype vehicles

Purpose-built vehicles not derived from a production model, including experimental, concept, or prototype vehicles.

Electric Vehicles Vehicles propelled exclusively by electric power

Vehicles propelled exclusively by electric motors and onboard energy storage systems. This class includes production electric vehicles, modified production electric vehicles, and purpose-built electric race cars, which may be further sub-classified at the discretion of Raceway management.

Electric vehicles must comply with all applicable high-voltage safety standards and any additional technical requirements specified by WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

All vehicles must comply with Raceway safety standards, noise regulations, and the technical requirements in effect at the time of the attempt. Final classification, eligibility, and record validity are determined by WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

All official attempts must use the certified timing solution implemented at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Only lap times verified under these specifications may be published or promoted as official Raceway track records.

Primary Timing System Transponders, timing loops, and calibrated decoding

The primary timing method consists of an active transponder system administered or approved by WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

  • Permanently installed or event-specific timing loops at the official start/finish line
  • Real-time decoding hardware and software calibrated for the circuit length and configuration
  • Lap-time recording with millisecond-level resolution consistent with international motorsport timing standards
Lap Definition and Validity The conditions every official lap must satisfy

An official lap time is the elapsed time between successive crossings of the certified start/finish timing line under continuous green-flag conditions.

For a lap to be considered valid:

  • The vehicle must remain within track limits for the entire lap
  • No mechanical assistance or external propulsion may occur
  • All safety and operational conditions must remain compliant

Invalidated laps are not eligible for record consideration.

Data Capture and Retention The evidence archived with each certified attempt

The following information is captured and archived for every certified record attempt:

  • Raw timing data from all active timing systems
  • Vehicle identification and transponder assignment
  • Session metadata, including date, time, and track conditions
  • Operator and system certification records

Timing data is retained by Raceway management for official reference and verification.

Certification and Record Confirmation How a verified time enters the official record book

After an attempt is completed:

  • Timing data is reviewed and certified by the authorized timing authority
  • Written confirmation of the lap time, vehicle class, and session details is issued
  • Only times certified through this process may be designated as Official Track Records

Final determination of record validity rests jointly with WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and the appointed timing authority.
