Lauri Eberhart has stepped into the role of CEO for Friends of Laguna Seca, bringing a wealth of motorsports experience and a vibrant personality that’s bound to energize the community as much as the revitalization plan she brings with her. Eberhart has an impressive background. During her career she has participated in the negotiation, structuring and closing of high-profile sports corporate transactions valued at over $5 billion and has advised on hundreds of significant motorsports events. But who is the woman behind the title? We sat down with Lauri to learn more about her passions, quirks, and vision for the future of Laguna Seca. Here’s what she had to share:
What’s the best live music performance you’ve ever been to?
Bruce Springsteen does the best live show of anyone! Four hours of hits you know all the words to. Tom Petty is super fun too—he’s got so many songs you’ve forgotten about.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
When people misuse “anxious” when they mean “excited,” like “I’m anxious to go on vacation.” Anxious implies anxiety, which is negative. Also, the misuse of their and there, its and it’s. I’m a stickler for the Oxford comma!
What’s your favorite car either to see on track or to drive?
Porsche Cayenne.
What song is going on your road trip playlist?
“Fourth of July” by Scooter Jennings; “On the Road Again” sung by Vegetales.
If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
Thomas Jefferson, Catherine the Great, Tom Cruise.
What was your first job?
Assistant to the Public Relations Director at Michigan International Speedway—I was in charge of media credentials.
What do you love the most about motorsport?
The visceral reaction to motorsports events—the sound, the smells, the speed. I also love the focus and competitiveness. And I love motorsports people.
Do you have any quirky hobbies or talents?
I’m a history geek who loves spending the day in a comfortable chair reading biographies, history books, or historical fiction. I also love to cook and try new restaurants. My dream job is to be the executive chef of the Rolling Stones.
Lauri’s dynamic personality fits right in here in Monterey which boasts its own love affair of food, books, and live music along with motorsports. Lauri’s passion and extensive experience make her the perfect fit to lead Laguna Seca into its next chapter. When you see her about town or at the track, make sure to say hi and stay tuned for more exciting news as she steers Laguna Seca into a bright future!
